Professional Development

Relevant program topics enable NCTMA members to be better prepared to meet the challenges of the workplace. Rapidly changing technological advances impact the treasury environment. Members are kept abreast of industry developments through NCTMA programs.

The North Carolina Treasury Management Association offers regular dinner meetings, a one-day Educational Seminar each September and a two and one-half day Treasury Conference, held jointly with the South Carolina Association for Financial Professionals each May. It is through these activities that the North Carolina Treasury Management Association strives to meet the educational and professional development needs of its members.

Certification

The North Carolina Treasury Management Association's educational program includes sessions for those members preparing for the Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) examination given annually by the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP). A review course is offered for those attending the Cash Adventure Conference each May.

The regular dinner meetings and other educational activities are accredited by the AFP and provide renewal credits for Certified Cash Manager (CCM) and Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) accreditations.

The meetings and conferences also qualify for continuing professional education (CPE) credits. The North Carolina Treasury Management Association is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be addressed to: NASBA, 150 Fourth Ave North, Suite 700, Nashville, TN 37219-2417.

A "Certificate of Course Completion" for CCM/CTP credits is provided to attendees at each meeting.  Requests for a "Certificate of Course Completion" for CPE credits should be made to the Vice President. Address any questions regarding the certification program to the Vice President.

Essentials of Treasury Management

Many organizations are finding value in sending their employees responsible for treasury managment duties, also sometimes referred to as cash management duties, to the workshops. At the annual Carolinas Cash Adventure Conference, an extensive educational tract is offered, based on the AFP publication, "Essentials of Treasury Management."  While designed for individuals desiring to become certified as a Certified Treasury Professional, the course is open to those not seeking the certification as well.
