The NCTMA scholarship program began with an endowment to the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in 1986. The annual scholarship is to provide supplemental stipend support to an academically outstanding student enrolled in the school's graduate program, with preference being given to second-year students from North Carolina concentrating in finance. Since that date, subsequent scholarships have been endowed. Endowments have ranged from $15,000 to $25,000, with a total of $106,000 being given to-date. As of August, 2023, the reported value of the six endowments was $318,662.
Funding of these endowments are the result of excess revenues received by the NCTMA over the years. Members and sponsors should feel good to know that their contributions go for more than just to fund the operation of the organization.
